For my classroom management I use the Conscious Discipline Program. This program promotes a peaceful child. When a child is in this state he/she is able to learn, cooperate and help others be successful. According to the program there are seven basic skills of discipline.

1. Composure: Becoming the person you want children to be

2. Encouragement: Building a school family

3. Assertiveness: Saying "no" and being heard

4. Choices: Building self esteem and willpower

5. Positive Intent: Creating teaching moment

6. Empathy: Handling the fussing and the fits

7. Consequences: Helping children learn from their mistakes

There are consequences for actions.

There is a pocket chart with each child's name on it. With each offense the child flips his/her paper to the next color.

All students start on GREEN. YELLOW is the warning level. There are no consequences.
RED is the next level. There is 5 minutes time out and 1 conduct mark.
orange is the next level. There is 10 minutes time out and a note from the child to the parent. This is equal to 2 conduct marks.

If the offense is severe enough a conduct mark could be given without a warning. The parent is called if behavior continues.

These are recorded daily on a conduct report. The conduct report goes home on Friday's to be signed.
